Ben's take on gadgets, technology... life

AvatarWhen memory is placed online, it's for LIFE

iPod wins... truly...

I'm an Apple fan... just fan - not fanatic yet but I can imagine myself getting there someday... especially after reading Steve Job's Unauthorized Autobiography called iCon...

Which, in my opinion is possibly the best read I've had in years - then again, I don't read much :) apart from mags... but truly, this is really an eye-opening read. One of those things you should get yourself into if you're truly a techno-fanatic. It digs deep into Steve Job's life, revealing things that are not generally available to public and showing you how this man came about and most importantly, how he got sacked from his own company and made a tremendous comeback with the powers of Pixar Studios - one of the very first companies that gave you the 3D cartoon animation we see today.

Once you've read the book, you'll feel as though you've got to own every Mac product made today... and be inspired by the hard work that had been put into it. Originally, I thought this book would make me hate the Apple world as it was 'unauthorized' and it stirred up quite a bit of the Mac community so much so that it was banned from the shelves of all Apple Stores! - a directive that apparently came from Steve Jobs himself.

Anyway, that said, the whole idea of this entry is to proclaim the iPod wins my heart once more. I had an iPod Mini, iPod Nano, iPod Video and then a couple of months back, I told myself that IT'S OVER. I've had enough of the iPod and I'm sick of their monopoly! The solution? Sold my iPod Video and got myself Sony's Noise Canceling Mp3 Player - supposedly the first of it's kind in the world!

It's a really REALLY nice gadget - it came with everything you'd want in an Mp3 player, stylish tube-like design, a small colour screen that would show album art and relevant song information, built-in radio, line-in recording capability, battery life of up to 50 hours and the list just goes on... BUT one thing somehow didn't cut it... there was something missing - it was the iPod factor... which is quite difficult to describe...

The best description of this feeling would be iPod's ability to assimilate aesthetics, design, user-interface, ease-of-use and put it into a HOT, COOL looking package.

It was obvious that I began to miss the iPod... so a couple of days back, I bought myself an iPod Video and all I can say is - IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.

Congratulations Apple, you've won the best Mp3 player award - well in my hall of fame anyway...

More pics from Pangkor Laut...

More pics from what some people call the "Paradise"... read my previous blog entry for more on this resort...

View from every chalet's private balcony

One of the many bridges that connect one section of the island to another... why? Can't we just walk right across since it's just 1 island? It's just one of the many ways the resort builds the place to ensure minimal impact on nature...

This is just the appetizer! Imagine the rest of the courses!

The most beautiful resort PERIOD...

I've been to a couple of resorts, island resorts, hotel resorts but this one is simply exceptional... Pavarotti once said (after waking up one morning at the resort) - "This place is enchanting, it is a paradise. The morning when I woke up I went out and I was really moved, almost crying, to see what beautiful things God had done… this is a paradise.", another photographer said "The Pangkor Laut Resort isn't quite Eden, but it's as close as you'll get in this life."

After reading all those quotes, I expected many things... upon arrival... I was SPEECHLESS... it was beauty beyond anything I could have ever imagined.... It was luxury the moment Fabes and I stepped on this island. Oh by the way, this was a work + holiday trip but everything was so tranquil, perfect, luxurious, beautiful, gorgeous (I'm running out of words to describe this place but you get it) that it didn't feel like work at all... I would love to post more pics but due to a limitation by Picasa2, I'm only able to upload 4.

If there's one holiday you want to save for, Pangkor Laut Resort is the place. Beauty, Luxury, Tranquility - ALL IN ONE. I'll BE BACK... if it takes to dig deep into the wallet... I'll STILL RETURN...

A trip to Cameron Highlands & back...

The trip I've been waiting for has finally arrived and 3 days later, I'm back. Cameron Highlands, not exactly the most exciting place when you think about entertainment but it's a place where a lot of my younger memories lay - it was like returning to my home town. This time around, it's not like one of those regular trips to Cameron Highlands where I would rent an apartment for a couple of nights, lay low
and relax... BUT this is going to be a trip of pure luxury, elegance and style - Cameron Highlands Resort Style...

35 clicks before we arrive at the next turning... estimated arrival time - 11:47am on a brightly lit Wednesday morning... thanks to Garmin, every turn was precise... there was simply no reason for getting lost :) To be really honest, it's not like there are many turns in Cameron Highlands, it's a one way up and another way down :p
An hour or two la ter, we finally arrived at the Cameron Highlands Resort - previously known as the Merlin and was bought over by YTL, a company that prides itself with luxurious resorts, escapades, shopping centres, properties and more... Cameron Highlands Resort isn't an exception, with first class service and check-in that requires absolutely NO STANDING, just laze around one of the very comfortable italian sofas (they should be italian, only those guys can create such wierd chairs) and the guest relations officer will get your escapade going... the hotel room was just beyond words - typical of a 5-star boutique hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner was part of the package... everything was made to order...

This is going to be a holiday that I'll remember for a looooonnnnng time. For some strange reason, Blogger doesn't allow posting of 5 or more images from Picasa so I've uploaded over 200 pics to my online photo album... indulge in it and you'll understand why I will certainly return to Cameron Highlands Resort...

The strangeness continues...

Like I said in my earlier post, it's a strange year... even my dog thinks so. Oh by the way, she's Godiva, Girl Girl's daughter from her second offspring - yes she was impregnated twice and trust me, I had nothing to do with it... :)

I'll let the pictures speak for itself...

She seemed rather contented with her new look... but we took it off anyway...

2007 - I tried tight fitting costumes...

2007 is a strange year... a year of many oddities and a year of strange adventures like this one. I was dawned in tight-fitting superhero costume potraying Roben (Robin) with my partner Phatman (Batman - Phat Fabes).

Roshan's in the middle... our station's news dude...

Are we hawt or are we HAWT?

So how do I look in 2007?

Pictures can say a million things about you. So how do I LOOK in 2007? If you haven't been catching up or meeting up, here's how I look just a couple of weeks back. Got a little bit of a shaving experience; wanted to try the bald look which - in all honesty looked a little strange so I decided to grow a bit more hair.

Stella, my love has never changed :)

My dog... Girl Girl... she seems to look younger by the year! Have absolutely no idea why but it just works for her. Nice pink dress eh?

My first blog entry in 2007 yeeha!

It's quite unbelievable. Sometimes, you just completely forget about something you've been working on and this blog is certainly one I've abandoned for a loooooooonnnnng time. So there, a brand new entry for a brand new year (albeit late - but OKAYlar...). Before I dwelve into the boring details of what I've been up to in the past couple of months (now that it's May already), I'll just blog about something I truly love and will never forget... FOOD.

Breakfast - many say is the most important meal of the day... how else to start your day with some poached eggs, bacon, sausages, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, grilled mushrooms OOooh... FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD! It's 1:15am and I'm already thinking of what to have tomorrow morning...

Anyway, salivate over these pics... first...

If you are asking where do I get this sumptuous meal? Try La Bodega Bangsar. Just remember, they have 2 so called 'Big Breakfasts' in their menu, go for the cheaper one... as it comes with more food - no idea why but it just is... :)

More entries coming your way... Hello 2007!
