The word is CUIL… let’s say it together now… COOO EEELLL… that’s right… now what in the world does it mean? It means knowledge in Irish – not the usual term the Irish use today – more of an old school word they used during the time when people used the phrase “ole’ chappity” <- no, that was a lie.
Anyway, it’s Google’s latest competitor I’m talking about. If you’re going “OOOHHH I’ve heard of it already” – then ok, you’re great – blah blah blah, give yourself an award and pat yourself on the back then read on :)
You can call it a by-product of Google as it came from one of Google’s engineers. Decided that Google was not good enough and that more could be done. So Cuil was born.
So what’s so great about it?
To begin with, Cuil is like this all-in-one search engine that not only shows results in a one page, linear design which we are all so used to, links after links after links… Cuil spreads things out rather nicely… with each part of the page dedicated to different content related to your search…
So check it out, Cuil is really quite cool. Showing you ‘relevant’ content – some with thumbnails of videos, some with graphs…
One last thing…
Now that I’ve got the boring-to-some tech talk out of the way, let’s talk entertainment. We all know that Mr. Henry Golding won Cleo’s Most Eligible Bachelor 2009. So the Pagi Show couldn’t lose out – kiasu-mah – we got the dude and the editor-in-chief Lynette Ow to the studio and performed torture… muahahahha…
Our aim was to see if Henry was ‘eligible’ to become Fly FM Pagi Show’s Bachelor – it was simple, 3 tests, one of which required drinking a strange concoction of sambal + belacan + rice + asam + soup + lime… Henry drank with all his might to the point of ‘almost puking’… Lynette decided to support her bachelor and downed the rest… WOOHOO…
The result? All hail Henry Golding – congratulations bro, you’re now a Cleo’s Most Eligible Bachelor of 2009 & Fly FM Pagi Show’s Bachelor!
All smiles while the chili burns from within… the pain… ooh… the torture…
